  • All monetary transactions will take place via Studio Walz website.

  • All ordering will take place via the Studio Walz website.

Gallery Hop | Photographer Scott Walz

All are invited to the Gallery Hop on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Milward Funeral Directors, 159 N. Broadway, Lexington KY 40507. Located next to the Opera House.

Featuring Scott Walz!

Scott will be showcasing photographs taken during his medical/dental mission trips to Honduras. He has found a true passion with helping the Honduran’s and documenting the people of this impoverished country. Scott along with his fellow mission volunteers travel for hours over dirt roads to reach the site where a make-shift medical clinic will stand to perform much medical care to all those who are in need.

Scott is thankful to his church’s pastor, Dan Hans, of Second Presbyterian Church for bringing this mission into his life.

Scott is also thankful to Milward Funeral Directors for hosting him and this wonderful event and allowing him the opportunity to share his art with so many people.

A Beautiful Life: Through the Eyes of a Child | Art in Unlikely Places | Lexington Art League | Scott Walz

Scott enjoys giving back to our community and recently he was approached by our longtime friend Arturo Sandoval, a professor at the University of Kentucky’s School of Fine Art, to be a part of this year’s Art in Unlikely Places. Art in Unlikely Places is a program created by the University of Kentucky’s Arts Administration.

"Art in Unlikely Places connects inspiring artists to those most in need of the transformative powers of the arts. The students' vision is that this organization will deliver the work of inspiring artists to the ailing, the impoverished, and the distraught, sharing beauty with those whose life-circumstances might otherwise prevent them from discovering the hope that is found in the artistic moment.”

This year they have teamed up with the The Kidz Club and Greenhouse 17. Children from both organizations have created beautiful drawings that Scott photographed. From these pieces of art a book will be made. All money raised from the sale of the book will go back to the The Kidz Club and Greenhouse 17.

Please consider supporting this year’s Art in Unlikely Places presented by the Lexington Art League on May7th.

Congratulations Scott! | Award Winning Photographer Scott Walz | High School Senior Portrait Specialist Award

Congratulations goes out to Scott for his latest professional photography award of “High School Senior Specialist” won at the Photo Pro Network Conference Scott attended this past weekend. The “High School Senior Specialist” award is given to the most outstanding senior portrait image entered in the Photo Pro Network print competition. A panel of judges makes the honored distinction of one image from all images entered in the “High School Senior” division.

Scott is photographed here with his latest award and award winning photograph. You can even see to the far left of the picture a few of Scott's many awards he has won over the years. Quite an accomplishment!

Also, I managed to talk Scott into letting me photograph him with all of his winning photographs from this years’ competition.

Texas!

I wanted to share a few photos from our recent trip to the Great State of Texas.  The main reason to travel to Texas this time was to attend the wedding of our niece. What a wonderful trip it was!

Our visit to Texas opened up the opportunity to visit friends that live in Allen Texas (former Kentuckians). That's me along with Laura Goepper Allnut. She will look familiar because she and her husband John wedding pictures on our Studio Walz website.

Scott was busy taking pictures of Evan and Miranda Dolive's family in Orange, Texas (temporarily Kentuckians for a few short years). This is Violet and she can be seen as a baby on the Studio Walz website.

This is Reid, Violet's little brother. He is quite a precious little boy. Always a smile on his face. Strangely enough we did not get any pictures of the whole family. The kids had our complete attention.

Our last days were in Houston where we stayed with Scott's high school friend Mike Carr and his family. Pictured here is his wife Sue. What a great host they were to us. We threaten to move in because staying with them was like staying at the best B&B ever!

The New Studio Walz!

New-Entrance Photo

Wow, what a crazy couple of months it has been. I had hoped to keep you updated with the progress of our remodel and show you pictures along the way. Well, things didn't actually happen the way I thought. There wasn't much time for anything else because we stayed open during the whole remodel. An amazing transformation of the studio happened in a few short weeks. Walls came down and walls went back up along with new flooring, lighting and a beautiful entrance area and dressing room. We still have a few small projects that we are working on. One of which is a new frame corner sample area and another is all new portraits for our walls. Here are a few progress images that depicts the progress that was made.

Remodel-1 Walls came down and old flooring came up.

Remodel-2 New walls going up and new sub-floor (no more squeaky floors!)

Remodel-3 Drywall complete, prepped and ready to paint. Thank you for letting me share our new studio with you. We are enjoying our new digs! Valorie

News! News! News!

After a wonderful Christmas season Studio Walz has embarked on a major studio remodel. After many years of talking and planning, we finally said "yes" we are going to give the studio a face lift. The remodel began on January 2nd and will continue throughout the month. We hope to be completed by the end of January but as things go it just may be sometime in February. We are taking business portraits during this time and other sittings will resume when the remodel is complete. I hope to post a few pictures to show you our progress. In the mean time, I will get back to work showing you portraits we have taken this fall and during the Christmas season. Valorie and Scott

Pictures with the Peonies | Henry Clay Estate "Ashland" | Lexington Ky Childrens Photography

It's that time of year when the spring flowers are blooming and old man winter is finally gone. Peonies are beginning to bloom at Ashland and we want to remind you to make your appointment soon. Times available are limited.

I chose a few pictures from previous years portrait sittings to give you an idea of what to expect. Just because I only posted pictures of little girls doesn't mean that only girls get their picture taken with the peonies. No one is excluded from these pictures. You are welcome to bring the whole family and even the family dog to be photographed. See you there, Valorie.
