Gift of Life | Scott Walz Family Photography | Louisville Ky

We want you to meet Brooklyn. This fiesty and prescious beautiful girl had a kidney transplant in July of 2022 at only two years of age, but you would never know it seeing her today. Brooklyn developed Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome which according to Johns Hopkins is "an herited disorder characterized by protein in the urine and swelling of the body which develops shorlty after birth. The disorder commonly results in infection, malnutrition and kidney failure." In short, her kidneys are unable to keep protein in her body which her body needs to function, grow, become strong and ward off infections.

Scott and I were honored to be invited to photograph the marking of the one year anniversary Brooklyn's transplant. More importantly, to honor the young lady who lost her life and her family members that had to make the most difficult decision during a tragic time to give the gift of life by donating her organs. Brooklyns' parents, Marlee and Jared, chose to release a dozen butterflies in honor of the donor while surrounded by family.

Brooklyn is now thriving with her new kidney so much that she grew two inches in the month of July and has started preschool. She has an amazing vocabulary and is always on the move. Her bright personality brings a smile to everyone's face.

Butterflies have become a symbol of hope, transformation and rememberance for many in the organ donor and recipient community. Now that you can see what the gift of life through organ donation can do please consider becoming an organ donor yourself. Scott and I have registered to be organ donors and we encourage you to join the movement by going to donatelifeky and registering today. Time to spread your wings and fly.

We are Open! | Studio Walz Photography | Lexington Ky

We opened our studio doors to the public on May 12 and haven’t looked back. We had a wonderful week of meeting new customers and catching up with those we have worked with for many years. Just the social aspect of seeing people outside of Kroger’s and Lowe’s, it was awesome!

I want to highlight in this blog the importance of family portraits, not just to mark time but to preserve and cherish the love we have for our families. When Scott photographs a family, whether it’s a three generational family for Father’s Day, an extended family or immediate family, he always captures Love. It’s amazing and I personally love seeing the photos. His portraits are thought provoking and makes you admire the closeness and connectivity that families have.

Here is a sample from long-time clients that shared their day with Scott to photograph their family. They took this opportunity to not only photograph their extended family but each family together creating lifelong memories.

The Turner Kids! | family photographer lexington ky | studio walz, inc.

Having pictures taken is never something you regret and it’s only the ones you don’t take. That is a common sentiment here at studio. Capture your memories now and don’t wait another day!

We are very proud to say we have been photographing these awesome kids since they were babies! The joy we have watching them grow up is hard to explain. We just love them!

These pictures became extra special because their most beautiful grandmother took the opportunity to jump into the pictures too. Completely impromptu! As I said before you only regret the photos you don’t take and she seized the opportunity and these photographs will always be cherished.

The Goepper Family! | family photography wilmore ky| photographer wilmore ky

It’s truly looking like spring outside and I’m already thinking about puttering in my yard but first I would like to share with you a sitting Scott photographed last year of one of our favorite familys. They are not only special clients but they have become “very” special friends of ours. You know the people you admire from afar because they actually are good people. Well here they are, always giving of themselves to their family, friends and their community. We are honored that they continue to ask us to photograph their important events in their lives.

The Goepper's are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and I can't imagine a better way than with a family portrait. How amazing and congratulations!

Cuties!| family photographer lexington ky| scott walz

We have had the opportunity to photograph these cuties since they were born so I won’t be surprised that you most likely have seen them before on our website. I decided to blog about family sittings today on a day that it’s raining once again here in Lexington Ky. One of the many reasons to use Studio Walz as your professional photographer is that we have a state of the art full service studio.

Rain, shine or snow we can photograph your children, family, senior, headshot or your commercial shoot. Here is a link for a quick studio tour.
