Do you take Saturday appointments?  Yes, we do take Saturday appointments. Senior and Family Portraits can be scheduled on a Saturday except for the family Studio Mini Session. Mid-week appointments are more readily available.

What happens if it rains the day of my on location appointment?  First, we make every attempt to keep the appointment, weather permitting of course.  Here in Central Kentucky it may rain in the morning and be beautiful by afternoon or evening. Our policy is to make a decision within the hour of the scheduled portrait session. If Mother Nature is not cooperating we are happy to reschedule.

Note: Many out of town clients ask what will happen if their scheduled on location sitting is rained out. This is never a problem at Studio Walz. We can move your photography session to our state of the art studio with most of the comforts of home plus your own personal dressing area for your use during your portrait session.

Clothing:

What clothing should I wear for my portrait session?  Clothing sets the tone for your portrait session.  Always dress from head to toe.  Whether you want a more formal session or a casual session - always keep your clothing simple and classic.

Children and Families:  Trying to decide clothing for a family can be the hardest part of planning your photography portrait session. Our recommendation is to complement each others clothes without having to dress alike. Complementary colors work best, wearing solid medium colors tones (nothing too dark or too light). If possible, stay clear of black or white clothing. Black and white colors can be extremely harsh on most skin types and difficult to photograph. Also, we do not recommend wearing light colored pants and as it will draw the focus down and away from smiling faces.

Seniors: This session is all about the senior. We want the senior’s style and personality to show through. Typically seniors bring a variety of clothing styles from dressy to casual/fun. Feel free to bring props for your photos which could be a musical instrument, a hobby, sports or even your car!  Accessorize! Scarves, hats, sunglasses and boots are all great additions.

Bring more clothing than you need and we can help pick out the most flattering clothing for the senior portrait session. Seniors should arrive as prepared as possible so we make the most of our time together.

Headshot: This can vary according to the type of business the headshot is needed. Suit and tie for men and a suit for women is typical. Solids are always best. The headshot will be in color and in black and white therefore we always encourage wearing something other than black. Medium color tones work well.

In recent years, a more casual appearance is becoming more common. Solid and medium color depth clothing is still recommended instead of black. Women are recommended to wear classic jewelry. The focus of a headshot should always be the subject and not the clothing or jewelry.

It's not unusual when we are asked "what should I wear for my headshot?"  we answer "dress seasonally generic".  Again we want the focus to be on your face and not your clothing.  Therefore if it's summer or winter the headshot should look the same. Especially do not wear sleeveless shirts or dresses for women or short sleeve shirts for men. Bare arms will draw the focus away from the face and more attention is drawn to the clothing.  The point here is no one wants a potential customer spending their time thinking "oh, it must have been winter because the person in the picture is wearing a turtle neck".

Appointments are zero pressure help sessions so you can get the most out of your wonderful images.
